FLYERS SWEEP 2008 ST. PATRICK'S DAY TOURNAMENT The Twin Valley Squirts in their last tournament of the season traveled three days back and forth to the Douglas Everett Hockey Rink in Concord, NH to bring home the Championship trophy. Friday night started with a great match-up with the Concord Capitals Red Team. Cameron Perron started the scoring off a pass from Cam Maccioli for the Flyers. In the second period Lee Cogan, Cam Maccioli, and Christopher Schell added more scores on the board. Assist were credited to Timmy Berry & Anthony Vaikunas. Then Twin Valley turned on the heat with Cogan, Schell, Vaikunas and Gregory Surgenor all netting the puck. Cogan recorded a hat trick for the night. Goalie Chad Fazio had 13 saves for the night. Final score 9-2. Saturday morning found the Flyers facing off against the Concord Capitals Blue Team. The Flyers were flying that morning. Christopher Schell took passes from Cogan, Perron, Berry and Maccioli to secure 4 quick scores for Twin Valley. Defenseman Tim Dupree shot 2 line drives into the net to secure the win. Netminder Fazio had 6 saves. Final score 6-1 Saturday evening the Flyers found themselves looking face to face with the Tri-Town Jr. Monarchs. Again the Flyers were unstoppable! In the first period of play Timmy Berry took a pass from Alex Plummer and got the scoring off the ice. Following that score Schell took a center pass from Greg Surgenor and found the pocket. Defenseman Anthony Vaikunas took a pass back from Schell and slid a solid shot from the blue line to record another Twin Valley goal. |

Schell then took passes from Bryce
Foss & Vaikunas to secure the lead. In the third period of play the Flyers'
spectators were on their feet celebrating Bryce Foss and Brandon Moskalenko
first recorded goals of the season. Vaikunas then took a pass from Cogan and scored.
To finish out the game James Young pushed a pass to Christopher Schell for the final
goal. Fazio had 5 saves between the pipes to advance the Flyers into the championship
game. Final score 9-1.
Twin Valley faced the Concord Capital Red
Team once again in the Championship Game Sunday afternoon. The Flyers were ready
to show off their hockey skills and the bleaches were filled with Flyer Spectators
ready to roar!! In the first period Christopher Schell took passes from Vaikunas
and Berry to post 2 goals up on the scoreboard. In the second period of play
Timmy Berry had a breakaway and flipped the puck into the net to record a third
goal for the Flyers. During a face off, center Schell passed the puck back to Tim
Dupree for a line drive shot from the blue line for another score. Schell then took
the puck from a face off and weaved his way through the Concord defense to score
the 5th Flyer goal. Cameron Perron then stepped up and drove the puck into
the net. Winger Cam Maccioli was in the right place at the right time to net a goal
from a center pass off of Perron. Defensive players Surgenor, Dupree, Captain Joanna Schafer
and Vaikunas did a stellar job of hustling and outplaying their opponent. Flyer
netminder Chad Fazio ended the season by recording his 10th shut out.
Dave Riley & Ryan Terrien led their Flyers to a 7-0 championship victory to
conclude their 2007-2008 season.
